A work in progress
So this weekend we decided to gut out our bathroom (pics to come later). As always it turned out to be a much bigger deal than expected. We now have no floor, walls, outlets, lights....etc. Just a big hole and studs where are bathroom used to be. The kids are enjoying crawling under the house a lot more than daddy, but we have finally got water back on and installed a new hot water heater. We are supposed to install the new floor and bathtub today. Then we will have to run outlets(there were not any in our bathroom) and install the sheetrock. The only thing we are keeping is our toilet becuase it was only a few months old. This weekend we will paint and install the paneling and tile. We will be lucky to get all that done, but that is the goal. Then we can install our new vanity and door! So, in about a week we should be finishing up. Our bathroom was just a tub before so it will be nice to have a real shower instead of just a hand held sprayer. The bathtub was rusted out on bottom and had draining issues, so I'm sure the kids will be ready to have a bath again. And, the giant cabinet that was hung over our bathtub (yes...it took about 1/3 of the standing room) is gone!!! It is sooo much work, but after this project, our house will have completely new plumbing. We finished the second bathroom a few months ago, the washroom a couple of months ago, now the kitchen, hotwater heater, and main bathroom. The only remaining pipe is the sewage line. And I'm pretty confindent it is not going to be messed with :)
Our house is full of projects, but as tiring as it is, it is nice to have a house that we make ours. We have never lived in one place for more than a year so it is great to finally "settle down" and get to change things and decorate, and make it ours.
Still to do:
Paint and decorate kids rooms (already have all the stuff)
Sand and refinish floors (already prepped)
Remove horrible flower wall paper from dining room :)
Already done:
Convert Garage into apartment(create bathroom, living room, office, bedroom, and kitchen area out of a concrete slab and four walls, install central heat and air)
Convert closet into laundry room
Remove washer, dryer, and portable dishwasher from kitchen
Tile Kitchen floor
Remove carpet from dining room and hallway
Remove paneling, texture and paint living room
Jerry is a great guy to have around as you can see!!!
